It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the match."

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was out the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
