The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms. The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Changes Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Stories Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained. Manual Updates A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Platform Context The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
